The Moore Poetry: Week Three

This week’s poetry writing was a little strange, as the title we chose was, strangely enough, “¿Tienes un sombrero?” Not the first thing we would have expected, but such is the peril of including random sentences as poem titles.

Nevertheless, we had several good poems, and the winner for this week is…

¿Tienes un sombrero? – By Stuart Moore

Señor, you’re in bad shape, it’s plain to see.

If you don’t know why, then listen to me.

You worked in el sol for too long and more;

Not shaded, thinking it was a child’s chore.

You’re scorched, I can tell, and you don’t know why?

I’ll tell you the truth, I’m not being sly.

Your face is rojo, twice I need not think.

Half of our water I see you did drink.

Your lips are cracked as we speak on the deck.

Looking at the back, I see your red neck.

By your expressions, oh for goodness’ sake,

I think your cabeza really does ache.

You are sunburned, you pant like un perro.

So I ask, ¿tienes un sombrero?
