Shadows Come, Shadows Go – By Stuart Moore

Verse 1

Kings have sat on the throne, worn the crown,

Took delight in the kingdom’s glory.

But one day they all die, every one,

Their death is the end of their story.

Chorus

The sun looks down from above,

Sees nothing new below.

Like a vapor you can’t seize,

Shadows come, shadows go.

Verse 2

Towns have been built, house by house they grew,

There were people who knew craft and trade.

By what means they fade, they hardly knew,

But soon enough to waste they are laid.

Chorus

Verse 3

Fortresses have stood strong, proud, and tall,

Laughed at weapons, stayed their place for years,

But they crumble one day, down they fall

Till they be but stories for the ears.

Chorus

Bridge

What then should we live for? Why have our lives begun?

Do not look down below but up above the sun.

Verse 4

Above the sun and the more true is the King

Immortal, the Way, the Life, the Truth.

With Him alone we have everything,

So let’s remember Him in our youth.

Chorus
